1.
First, a ceret body is formed by pinching and pounding a ball
of clay with bare hands to form a thick bowl
2-4.
This is then thinned and rounded by paddling, adding coils rolled
out on board and continuing to paddle until the form is a smooth,
slightly flattened globe
5-6.
The funnel-like mouth and spout are each made as solid forms,
pierced and opened out with a bamboo stick and then rolled and
stroked with various tools into the right shape. The three components
are left to stiffen until leather hard and then each is smoothed
over with a moistened stick. 7.
To join the pieces, the edges are moistened and then pressed together
with strips of wet clay to bind the join. Further reinforcement
is provided by an additional coil of clay pressed around the outside
of both joins, pressed and smoothed over with a round stick. Finally,
it is left to dry for one night, which will then be burnished
with a stone
